Mouton's in Honduras

Over Spring Break, a local church - Gateway Church - sent the Global Ministries Dept. to Honduras with a team of youths, led by one of our customers, Mark Jobe. http://www.gatewaypeople.com/

The team visited women's prisons, orphanages and even a facility that helps special needs individuals learn a trade or craft. Mouton's Salon sent shampoos and conditioners with the team, to be distributed where needed. BTW, the post a few days ago about some shampoo bowls that we had sent to Africa and to Honduras....these are the bowls...Those of you who have been long time customers of Mouton's, may recognize these bowls from our store on Forest Ridge in Bedford. Thanks to Natasha Brown for these photos.

A group of our team has been preparing a Spring Fashion Event to present to our staff. This model is the only one who is smiling in the entire 100 slides of The Best of New York Fashion Week for Fall 2009. I know that Fall '09 has nothing to do with our Spring Event, it's just a reminder that time keeps marching on.

Maybe the model in this pic saw our tulips! They make us smile too!

An African Mouton's Salon

Speaking of our former location - when we moved from the Bedford location, we had just leased some new shampoo bowls and chairs that we wound up not using in our Grapevine location. Because of the terms of our lease, we were not able to return the equipment in a trade and had to get all new stuff ...chairs, stations, shampoo bowls and chairs. That left us with some equipment that we weren't able to incorporate into our new design. Because we were still obligated to pay for the equipment that we couldn't use, we tried to find some kind home for the left over shampoo bowls and chairs. We wound up donating a section of the bowls and chairs to Tegulcigapa, Honduras to be used in a salon that was being started by a group of ladies there. The other section of bowls and chairs were donated to a beauty school in Nairobi, Kenya. We recently received a couple of pics from the school in Africa. This is our first time to see these pics. For those of you who have been long time customers, when looking at the photo on the top, you will recognize the shampoo bowl and chair from our Forest Ridge location.

Previous Location

We were going thru some old pics last night and came across these photos. This is our salon before we moved to Grapevine. It was in Bedford and we built this building and were here for four years before we outgrew it.

State of the Salon

Where Friends Meet

We had our annual State of the Salon meeting this Sunday at Farina's on Main Street in Grapevine. They call themselves a place "Where Friends Meet". Our day was wonderful!
The service was impeccable, the food was delightful and the atmosphere was welcoming.
Thanks to Diane and Paco for all their hard work throughout the day. Our team had a wonderful time.

State of the Salon

We are getting ready for our annual event that we call the State of the Salon. We've been doing this for the last several years and every year, we try to have the event at a different venue. This year we have lots to celebrate about 2008.

We will be having the meeting at a local restaurant/wine bar this Sunday. As you can see from this pic, Payton, Keshia and Ali are excited about something...not sure if it is because of the venue or the meeting.

Christmas GRACE

This is a wonderful time of year and it allows us to be a blessing to those less fortunate. This morning, several of us went to the G.R.A.C.E. Christmas Cottage in Grapevine. http://www.gracegrapevine.org/ We have been collecting gifts from our customers on behalf of GRACE for the past two weeks and today we went to help where needed at the Christmas Cottage. We met for breakfast at Biscuits Cafe in Grapevine http://www.biscuitscafe.com/, then went over as a group. As you can tell from the pics, we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the opportunity to help within our own community.

We are going to do it all again this coming Monday morning with those in our group who couldn't make it because of their schedules. We are still collecting gifts through Saturday, so if you would like to bring your gift around, please do so and we'll make sure to get it to GRACE .

More Happy Birthdays!

This past week we had two of our long time staff members celebrate birthdays...Tiffany and Jack.

We hope that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday as much as we enjoyed ours. It seems that Thanksgiving day this year actually seemed like a fall day, which made it feel truly like an autumn holiday.



Of course we have much to be thankful for, not the least of which is an abundance.

Happy B'Day Leslie!

We want to wish Leslie a very Happy B'Day (actually, her special day was yesterday). Leslie has been with the Mouton's Salon team for several years and has been very involved with teaching and helping to develop our teaching program through the years. Some of you may remember that Leslie was voted Employee of the Year last year, by all her peers. We recently swept our most of our photo files onto a disc, so we don't have any recent photos of Leslie to post to our blog. What we do have however, is great picture of Leslie's son, Dominic at our booth at the recent Halloween on Main St event in downtown Grapevine.
